The 27th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards were announced on Wednesday, March 15th. The Young & the Restless, All My Children, and General Hospital were among the top performers. The Young & the Restless nabbed 28 nominations. AMC nabbed 12 and GH followed with 11.
Among ABC soaps, General Hospital made marks in all of the acting categories -- except for The Lead Actress categories and the Younger Actress categories. It also made marks in the Outstanding Writing, Directing category and, of course, was nominated for Outstanding Show.
All My Children got totally ignored in the Outstanding Writing category, but capitalized in the Outstanding Directing and Outstanding Series categories. The only acting categories it nabbed were for Outstanding Lead Actor & Actress. David Canary (Adam/Stuart Chandler) and show newcomer (but not daytime newcomer!) Finola Hughes (Alex Marick) nabbed nods in those categories. It made great success in the Technical award categories.
One Life to Live which usually nearly gets shut out the awards made outstanding marks in this year's Emmys. It finally made a nomination in the Outstanding Series category -- but, however, did not make marks in the Outstanding Writing for Directing categories. It made great success in the acting categories. Hillary B. Smith (Nora) was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress. Robert S. Woods (Bo) was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor. There were a few surprises among the Supporting Actor categories. Erin Torpey (Jessica) nabbed a nomination for Outstanding Younger Actress.
Port Charles nabbed 3 technical nominations in this years Emmy's -- but was shut out of the regular nominations.
